The SoS2LearnDBS Project Launches Open Call for Community-Led Actions to Restore Our Oceans and Waters

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Community-led Actions (CLed) Open Call as part of the SoS2LearnDBS project, now live on social media. With up to €1,000,000 available in funding, this initiative is designed to support community-driven actions focused on water and marine restoration, pollution reduction, and the promotion of sustainable practices across the Danube River Basin and Black Sea regions.

The CLed call is specifically looking for innovative projects that go beyond the state of the art and align with the Mission Ocean 2030 objectives. We are particularly interested in projects that can drive sustainable development, offering solutions that address pressing challenges in water management and ecosystem restoration. This open call invites legal entities—including researchers, businesses, NGOs, and local authorities—who operate within or on behalf of local Communities dedicated to environmental restoration, sustainable blue economy, and climate adaptation.

The consortium partners can be established in any EU Member State and Horizon Europe-associated country.

A Unique Opportunity for Local Communities

By empowering local communities across five key regions—the Upper Danube, Middle Danube, Lower Danube, Danube Delta, and the Black Sea region—the project encourages the implementation of small consortium of regional partners to develop and test innovative, community-led solutions. These projects are expected to have a lasting impact on the environmental health of the regions while contributing to societal change in the face of ongoing environmental challenges.

The application process is open until March 30th, 2026, and projects can last between 18 to 30 months. Eligible projects can apply for a share of the funding to support their efforts in implementing solutions that promote water literacy, reduce pollution, and ensure the sustainability of local ecosystems.

This is an exceptional opportunity for organisations to take an active role in achieving the Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters” objectives, contributing to environmental protection through grassroots solutions. Applicants will have the chance to work collaboratively with other stakeholders, sharing knowledge, resources, and expertise to achieve meaningful environmental change.
